School Sports Premium Funding at St Matthew's

At St Matthew’s Primary School we believe PE & Sport plays an important role in making our vision statement a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change young people’s lives for the better.

We have used the Sport Premium funding  to support a great many initiatives during the last few years to develop our provision.

In addition to our PE lessons that follow the national curriculum, we use our Sports Premium Funding to enable as many children as possible participate in a wide range of extra curricular clubs and activities and to have the opportunity to engage in competitive matches and festivals with other local schools. Our success in this area has been recognized with St Matthew's achieving the Platinum Games Award in 2024, having previously achieved the Gold Games Award every year since 2017.

Our sport premium funding supports a long term strategy with a variety of initiatives running across academic years. The government have introduced a new way that schools must report the impact of their sport premium funding using an online form.  A copy of our submission can be seen below. (Note: we are currently still waiting for the copy of our submission to the Department for Education for 2024-25.  We will publish this as soon as it is received).
