Suggested Booklists

To support the reading and literacy we do in school we hope that parents, carers and children will find the attached suggested reading lists inspiring and helpful when choosing books to read at school and at home.  The lists were put together following feedback from a "Meet the Head" meeting where parents said they would like some guidance about books for their children to read.  Thank you to all those who have worked so hard to compile the lists.

The lists include books that have won awards, are children’s classics, school favourites, and recommendations from blogs, parents and journalists. The lists are set out with a synopsis of the book and it’s cover to help guide in book selection, as well as being split into age recommendations. The lists cover lots of genres and themes to suit all tastes, including comic & graphic novels, poetry, factual books, as well as chapter and picture books. Hopefully they will inspire readers to choose something new and exciting.

The lists are arranged by year group, but this is only a guide.  Children may enjoy reading the books from the other lists also, or having books read to them from other lists, whatever their age.  So far we have suggested books for Years 3 and 4 and for Years 5 and 6.  We are developing lists for younger children.
