Our Curriculum

In our last inspection OFSTED judged our curriculum to be “outstanding”. Our OFSTED report says that “the curriculum is highly imaginative and creative, and is built on key skills to support the development of literacy, numeracy and ICT across different subjects”.

This year we are reviewing our curriculum in the light of the revised National Curriculum for England  for September 2014.  Below you can find documents outlining our curriculum for the Autumn Term for 2014 for each year group.  These documents will be added to as the year progresses to create a new, detailed outline of our curriculum.  The documents also give some information about how are curriculum is taught and the philosophy behind it.

You can also find links to the revised National Curriculum, the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and the Cambridgeshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education which form the basis of our planning.  You can also find links to our target sheets for reading, writing and mathematics.

Reading Schemes and Phonics
We use a range of resources to teach reading and phonics in St Matthew's.
The reading scheme that is most frequently used is Oxford Reading Tree.
We use Letters and Sounds to teach phonics, alongside the materials from Phonics Fairy.
